Bowmans has gone from strength to strength. Possibly the most loved of all suburban restaurants in Auckland, it enjoys a following far beyond the local population of Mt Eden.
Bowmans Private Dining
At Bowmans private dining is our specialty whether it is for a birthday, anniversary, wedding reception, business meeting or cocktail party we can cater to them all. We have two completely private rooms, a semi private option or the whole restaurant is available for those larger functions. We offer set menus for groups over twelve and can personalize menus for you if required.
The private rooms have space to set up projectors for displays and are ideal for private business meetings. If you are planning a birthday or anniversary you can decorate the rooms to suit the occasion and the Bowmans kitchen can provide you with a cake if required.

Brought my wife to Bowmans for an early valentines present and have to say I was very disappointed with the service we were provided for the Hefty price tag. On arrival we were welcomed by a nice middle aged gent. We were sat in the corner under the specials board which we didn't think was a problem initially but this soon proved to be a bad choice as we were forgotten about as night progressed. The middle aged gent was very nice and took our order . After this a younger waiter took over our table and he gave the impression he didn't want to be there and had no customer service skills. When our starts arrived my wife had to tell him what was on the plate. At one stage she asked "is that goats cheese?" and he just shrugged a walked away. Our mains were then given to a table behind us whom arrived 30-45 minutes after us. The lady had ordered duck and she was given my lamb. She returned the dish which lead to a longer wait for our food as it had to be refired. When our mains finally arrived the waiter stood there plates in hand until my wife said "I'm having the steak" the waiter put down the plates and walked away. I knew then how he had made the mistake previous. Overall the food was very good its a shame about the service. When your paying $50 for a main, including sides you expect to have your water topped up. In future I will spend my money in one of Auckland's many other fine dining restaurant. Maybe if the older gent had served us all night this would have been a 5 star rating.

Came to Bowmans on a busy Friday and enjoyed every bit! Our complimentary starter was delicious and the waiter we had, Sam, was lovely and very accomodating. He recommended the Darling Sauvignon wine to go with our fish mains which was perfect. Overall we were very impressed with our time at Bowmans.

The service was medium to slow. The scallop entree was delicious. The main dish I had was slightly strange. Chorizo does not strike me as natural accopaniment to fish. The fish was not particularly tasty. The steak had by one of my party was cooked well but very gristly for a highly priced dish. The private dining area was pleasant.
