    After reading the reviews we decided to treat ourselves to a meal here. Unfortunately the Friday was fully booked (which was a good sign of good food), so we booked for the following night. I have to agree that on seeing the restaurant from the outside it does look like an everyday bar, the guys outside could have been a little off putting. However, it was like walking through the Looking glass once you stepped inside, very well set tables, tastefully decorated and a great atmosphere. The service was exceptional, the staff knew their food and wine and we didn't have to wait long to be served. Fantastic choice of food, it took me a while to decide and nearly came down to an eenie - meenie - minie - mo choice! The food itself was delicious, we had the venison and duck, with generous size portions. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We will be back!!

    This place was recommended to us by the proprietor of the motel we stayed at. She told us they did the best steaks in Taupo. Believe me this place does brillaint food. My wife, who is an excellent cook and hates dining out as the experience is usually below par, went and complemented the chef after an excellent meal. Our steaks were cooked to perfection (rare bodering on medium) and my daughters lamb shank on Kumura mash was brilliant. The veges were fresh and complimented the meal very well. If you look at JJ's from the front it looks a bit like a bar. Forget the first impressions and go beyond the outside facade, through the bar to the restaurant beyond and enjoy the excellent food and dining experience

    This place is awesome! Mains start from 22.50 to 35. They're reasonably sized portions and truly tasty. Service is very very good, ambience is great, I would highly recommend this restaurant, far above any other restaurant in Taupo. I am so pleased to have come here and I really want to recommend this restaurant.
