This was my third day in Auckland. I had eaten in the same restaurant for the first two days. It was OK. I decided to walk up the hill from my hotel and there was Da Vinci's. As I love Italian food, I decided to try it. It was a slow Monday night, but the employees treated a lone American woman as If I were a celebrity.I Chose the Spaghetti and Clams, and I wasn't disappointed. The serving was just the right size and I enjoyed the wonderful tiramasu for dessert. The Rose wine was perfect and I wish I could buy it in the US. Thank you for a lovely evening. After being fed up with those pretentious, arty & pricey fine dining restaurants, we came to DaVinci for a proper meal. This is exactly what we want - a solid and wonderful dining experience with great value. The wine list is an exciting bonus for our meal- extensive selection and many by the glass. Friendly service. Don't miss the Tiramisu, the best I have ever tried. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Overall a satisfying visit. We visited at about 6pm on a Saturday, so at the start of their dinner service. For mains, we got the spaghetti & meatballs and the chicken parmigiana. The spaghetti & meatballs were very good, tender meat with fresh pasta and a nice sauce. The chicken parmigiana was a solid portion (good sized piece of chicken!) and was well cooked (tender!). In fairness, the mains were pretty 'safe' (didn't blow us away), but were well cooked, good portion sizes and overall we were satisfied. The desserts were all good. We got the orange creme caramel and the house gelato. Orange was an interesting combo for the creme caramel; not sure if I would get this again but it was certainly interesting. The gelato had well sized and was very tasty (recommended!). Drinks wise, we got the house red (a chianti) and some lemon/lime bitters. The house red was a nice match to our mains. We had however had better LLBs at other restaurants. The service was very efficient and the staff were very friendly and approachable. Food was delivered in a good time frame with both meals at the same time. Also a nice touch that all the staff we dealt with were European - important for an Italian restaurant! We made a few special requests prior to coming (like reserve seating for our table for two), which they were very approachable about and delivered well. Overall, we were satisfied with our visit. Whilst it didn't blow us away, the food was nice and the service was above average. We'd recommend Da Vincis to other diners seeking a solid Italian meal.
