    Great menu, lovely food but very uncomfortable wooden benches! Service was a bit slow - think the waiter was new! Fish dishes are always very good.

    We were walking on Queen St. and came accross Vulcan Lane. We stopped at The Occidental Belgian Beer Cafe. The ambiance was great, the mussles where enormous and gooood!!! Before leaving New Zealand, we flew from Christchurch to Auckland and we decided to have lunch again at that place. The fish and chips was good and so was the calamaries.

    Yum! Love the Flemish stew with potato frites! Great place for a hearty lunch or a cold beer when out shopping in the High St area. Definitely one of my favs.

    Everytime I go, it's always a pot of delicious mussels and a glass of stella. Occidental never fails to deliver the same quality, same taste I crave everytime I go!

    Love coming here for their Wheat Beers - very few other places have the beers they have and their food is pretty good too. Hard to find parking - but a good place to chill after a hard week

    Stopped by for a drink of my favourite international beer, Leffe and low and behold they have it on tap..... Heaven! Will check out the food next time as it looks delightful. Good vibe feeling that an old pub atmosphere can offer and right smack in the centre of the CBD. Nice!

    If you are in the mood for a funky Belgum focused pub, the Occidental is the one for you. A little pricy, but solid food & I do love their white beers

    Coming here in the early 2000's on a visit back to NZ, I thought, if there's somewhere this good in Aotearoa, I could move back here - and I did. Mussels, fries and Belgian beer. Heaven. Great CBD location. Love it.
