Our group overall thought the food was really unimpressive. Not alot to choose from - and unimaginative. Service also wasnt up to scratch.

I am less than impressed with my dining experience last night at The Factory. After attending a function in Ahuriri, we walked down to the Factory - less two guests as during the function one became ill and one had to go home to a sick child - completely out of our control. When we arrived at the factory, we said "sorry not 7 of us tonight only 5". We were told by the staff member we should have called and let them know as the table was set for 7 and it was very inconsiderate. We sat down feeling like naughty school children, shocked at the welcome we had received. We were then told by the same staff member that lamb shanks weren't available - but there was a dish of leftovers from the asian themed evening the night before. Leftovers!!! We could not believe it. Why would you suggest to a customer they eat nothing less than freshly prepared food! This staff member was in fact the female owner of the business. Really she should have known better, as this level of customer service is totally unacceptable. The Menu that is listed on this website is not what is on offer - so no pasta as we were expecting. We all felt really disappointed. We will not be returning - from 5 not 7 very very unhappy customers.

In reply to the above coments about the Factory Restaurant,we would never use the word inconsiderate towards a customer no matter how we might feel,the reason for mentioning 7 going down to 5 is we had the booking on our large square table and 5 customers would be stuck around two corners therfore we could have set up a smaller table.The word leftovers was a bad description for what was our soup of the day a lovely miso with tofu and vegatables,a dish we served the previous evening at our popular Japanese theme night.We have checked our web site and is is 100% current,I think the above customer was looking at a web site through Finda that we didnt know even exsisted.On a brighter note the feed back from the table regarding their meals was very positive and they appreciated the free upgrade to a Te Mata cape crest wine.We take all comments about the Restaurant seriously and will make sure we pay attention to even the smallest details.The Factory management.

Hello fellow diners of great cuisine!! Bastille Day dining at this establishment shared a rather BROWN cloud over my throne following our small parties dining experience(all 6 of us to be exact)Sharp cramps followed by a sudden clutching of tummy, leading to the swiftest of pace to the GREAT WHITE THRONE(for what can be certainly described as back and forth repeat potty training!!) The Factory were duly phoned and made aware of our muddy plight....to essentially brush us off, and simply not care!! Well Done Team.........and by the way, the Gurnard was old, and very very dry....(seasoning anyone??)

Sorry for the late reply as we have only recently been made aware of this web site. The comments above are very disapointing to hear especially when less than half the table had the fish which the customer says made them all ill,it is also very disapointing that the customer feels she was fobed off when she phoned to let us know,I spent 20 minutes on the phone discussing all aspects of what may have given her stomach cramps even offering to send her a copy of our A+ rating of food practises with the NCCouncil,Im sure her friends found her poem funny.As a Restaurant we take all coments very seriously,that particular night we had 68 other very happy customers half of which are regulars who gave us wonderful feed back.We will continue to adhere to our very high food and health standards.The Factory Management.
