THE HANDS OF THE MOB IN THE MOUTH OF AUCKLAND
I always promised my mother I was going to school. I had the best intentions. I would get ready to go, get my bag and my books. But things didn't always turned out the way I'd promised. I would go downstairs and meet friends - and that's where things would sometimes take a different turn.
On occasions, we would walk a different way to avoid the usual route to school. And there was a place where I would find myself nearly everyday. It was where we would have breakfast and lunch, and sometimes stop for afternoon snacks.
In the morning, the aroma of coffee would mingle with the scent of fresh pastries and, later in the day, with pizza, panini, tramezzini, and the odd plate of pasta.
This place was my local bar, where my father would buy me a drink on Sundays and I had to climb the bar stools, that then seemed high as mountains. My friends and I referred to this place as our COVO, our meeting place, our safe heaven, our living room. Luciano, the bar owner, was our mentor, our friend, defender and critic. We felt safe there, cared for, part of a family, of a clan, of a circle of friends that was inseparable.

My friends and I went to Covo Restaurant Cafe and Bar on Fort St. for lunch today. I was so excited because I've read so many good reviews about this place! I ordered JOHNNY " Buried " and my friends both ordered LASAGNA " Magna ". The food was very very lovely! Large portion and tasted delicious! I really did enjoy the 'freshness' of my pizza! I got to try some of my friend's lasagna and it was superb as well! Although, they said that it got a little too cheesy and heavy toward the end. But overall, they both liked it. The waitress was so friendly and she has a beautiful Italian-English accent! She came around and asked if the food was alright and always filled up our glasses. This is what I'd call a quality customer service. I can't believe that I never tried this restaurant earlier! It's a little gem in Auckland city. I will definitely be going back there again! Sometime... really soon! After all, who can resist a $10 Italian lunch deal?!

I love this place!!! Its very cute... I had a group of 12 go for dinner. We were all seated together, i love it cos we were able to talk and hear one another unlike other places where it gets too busy and can be noisy which spoils the fun. The staff were very friendly, the food was yummy, and we didnt have to wait long to get our food. I will definately book there again!!! Just a nice place to chill out and eat... oh, and i got a nice lil candle with my desert...for my birthday .. very sweet of them...
