Honest food and fine wine make for a special experience at North Wharf's new Marvel Grill.. Marvel Grill specialises in fresh quality meat cuts paired with lovely side dishes and an authentic kiwi menu, which still manages to borrow from exotic themes and cuisines. Diners are invited to choose their meat (an in-house butcher prepares all meat cuts), their sides, sauces & butters.

The Marvel Grill itself, for which the restaurant is names, dominates the dining room in a teppan yakiesque fashion, which diners can sit around to enjoy watching their meals being prepared.. One of the big draws is the smaller portions Marvel Grill offers which is proving very popular with women. Along with the grill offerings, a range of hot skillets brought steaming hot to your table are available.

All this and Marvel Grill offers surprisingly exceptional value for money, as well as an impressive wine list of reasonably prices wines which make the whole menu affordable.

Taken on their own, the restaurant's individual concepts are not new, but the way they've been brought together is what makes it stand out as a dining experience.

    We came here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. The service was friendly and efficient and the food was pretty good. I had the lamb rack which was cooked nicely. the mushroom bread and butter pudding on the side was a little odd but all in all it was a nice meal. They had an acoustic guitar and lady singing which was nice in the background. Pretty kid friendly too. Definitely worth a try.

    My friends and I went here a few weeks ago in February. I seriously wouldn't go again. The service was average, although the kitchen had a great part in this by not sending out things or not at the right time. None of our group of 7 really liked anything they had and we covered the menu from Tapas to steaks to sides. I recieved my steak which I ordered medium rare and it came out close to well done. Another friends steak was not great quality and had a lot of grissle. My sides I never recieved, I waited a bit and saw sides come out for my friends but not me. When I asked the waitress she said they were coming. So was Christmas. I mean how hard is it to make mashed potato?! It was very strange for my friend to recieve a serving of potato but I could'nt have a portion and beans also not a hard dish to make. I ended up finishing my steak and telling the waitress to cancel my sides with the kitchen and make sure I was not charged. The mushrooms my friend had I tried and they were chewy and strange. The prawns she also got she said seemed like they were frozen and were really not enjoyable. I like the outdoor ambiance and the cool tealight holders on the tables and thats where my compliments end.

    Wow! We had a table of 16 for brunch ranging from 9 months to 60+ years. We found a park close by (free! not a bad effort for Auckland City) and our orders were taken promptly on arrival. Soon after, coffees arrived and were great. Nice and hot with enough kick to get you started first thing Saturday morning. The kids were entertained with crayons and an activity sheet that lasted though-out the whole meal. I ordered the mushrooms which were to die from. My father also ordered these, a great gluten free option. Other members of our party tried the zucchini fritters and eggs Benedict. The little ones were also happy with their choice. A great restaurant, well priced and fab location. I would definitely recommend for small or large parties!
