Uncle Mike's BBQ is steeped in the American tradition slow-smoking meat at a low temperature, using a combination of fire and smoke to coax the flavor and tenderness from a hunk of meat.

Our specialties are ribs, chickens, pork and beef though we also offer house smoked salmon and vegetarian dishes such as falafel and grilled portobello mushrooms. Meals are accompanied by BBQ baked beans, slaw, curried couscous, fresh cut fries or a green salad.

    I wish to state that as an American who knows what American food should taste like one bite of Uncle Mikes was like putting me back home. Just sitting in my folks back yard on a warm summer day eating BBQ fresh off the grill the sauce was perfect. The beef ribs where to die for. The only thing I could complain about was I wanted more but I was so full I couldn't eat another bite. the fries were great as was the coleslaw, but I think my husband would have licked the bowl clean on the beans. Mike was great and to talk to a fellow American was a real treat. My son said it felt like home. Thanks Mike

    Tonight my family and i visited, as had been wanting to go for some authentic american BBQ. Nice place.. except for the howling winds Petone has tonight and the rain, which on asking to close the doors as wasnt expecting an out doors experience tonight,they had to open not 2 but all three doors as there was a fire alarm. My son whom turned 4 today who just wanted a coleslaw burger.. $10 bucks.. perhaps it was the fact he first got a burger with meat and lettuce on it.. but then he had it replaced for the actual burger he wished for. i know egs and cabbage are expensive but im pretty sure that was a good 94% GP on that dish... I had the smoked bbq ribs.. sauce was nice meat was well not authentic cooked as i have eaten in the USA, dry, tough and hard to pull the meat off the bones.. The fries handcut were great.. My wife enjoyed her burger, but we decided to go somewhere else to have dessert. The waiter on complaining offered to comp the drinks.. nice idea but there was nothing wrong with them.. All in all.. perhaps a great place to dine in the summer or on a night when the weather ios not so nasty.. or i recommend dressing up. I did ask for the managers number as it was conviently his night off.. But on calling the number is not an active one.. the mind boggles..

    Have been once, but am returning tonight to continue my love affair with Uncle Mikes Kansas City BBQ. Delicious in every way! Great atmosphere, superb food and fantastic beer! Would, and do, recommend to everyone! Very impressive smoker out the back in the kitchen also!
