-We entered, the manager didn't so much as glance up. -Several tables hadn't been cleared. -We had to seat ourselves. -Other parties were served before us (only difference, I'm sorry to say, was that we were not Chinese and they were so they spoke the language) -It took several minutes to get someone to take our order. -Once our order was delivered we asked for sauces and the server just tossed the bowls on our table. -Servers didn't look happy to be there. -When we asked a busboy to take our order he said we would have to wait until someone could come take our order. Didn't offer an apology, or to call someone for us, or so much as a kind tone. Abysmal service. Food was only okay. Hence 1/2 a star.

Very impressed with the quality of food and dishes at first visit on 12/1/13. However, corkage charge of $2.50pp is a bit too much, especially if dining with a party of 6 or more. A fair charge could be $5.00 per bottle as in most restaurants around Auckland. Plan to return soon.

Hees Garden SEAFOOD resturant, well the fish we had was shocking. Fried John Dory in lemon sauce, the lemon sauce was good but the fish had an incredibly fishy smell and taste to it. It was disgusting, maybe they need to find some fresh fish!

I go hear every time I want to go out for Yum Char. Its authentic Chinese, served in bamboo baskets. The food ranges from steamed dumplings to fried chicken feet for the adventures people and alway of great quality. Price is very reasonable.
Business response
Thanks for your custom! We love to hear great feedback

My partner and I have been on a number of occasions and always found it quite pleasant. The servings are big. You can wait for quite a while but when the food comes out, boy does it come out. It's average.

I'd recommend Hees Garden in Mt Eden if you don't want the hassles of inner city/viaduct parking. Hee's probably doesn't have the widest range (it's only a small neighbourhood Chinese restaurant) and seating is pretty tight, but in typical HK Dim Sum-style, once you're seated and start pouring out the Jasmine tea, the dishes (usually) come thick and fast! Don't compare it with the big Dim Sum places and you'll leave quite contented I'm sure.

We have been here 3 times in the last 2 weeks. Its my new favourite local restaurant. Twice for dinner with different friends (both times the food was lovely) & Yum Cha on Sunday was great -you can request what you would like as well :)

What I like about this place is that it is so unassuming and you get such a cool surprise when you walk into the restaurant, it's really neat. Now, the service is not good and the food is very average. I was there with a business associate and he was not impressed either. Not good really.

We have been here a few times and the food is fantastic, large meal portions, service is a wee bit slack when they are busy, the menu is fabulous, what a huge selection! Will be coming back.

Food was good, but service was shocking. They were quite clearly understaffed & we had to get up to look for waiters to take our orders. Orders were taken & an hour later, a combination of entrees & meat dishes arrived without any rice! We got rice 15mins after the meat & seafood dishes AND after reminding two waiters that we were still waiting. The restaurant was quite full & they were not organised nor geared up for the numbers to be catered for! Delays, orders getting mixed up, staff getting flustered. Extremely disappointing service!
