Welcome to Rice. Our new summer menu by Executive Chef Kate Fay and Head Chef Kazuya Yamauchi is proving a winner with the diners. Its slight departure from a typical restaurant format into more of a casual shared style of dining has struck a chord with all of those who have indulged thus far. Head Chef Kazuya is executing Fay's signature style with gusto, so come in and sample our new wares!
Daniel Shields is the new ring master out the front so you can expect more fabulous cocktails, professional service and cheeky smiles from our team of amiable hosts. Also keep a look out as our space's award-winning design gets the odd revamp.
For those of you who've never beheld the Rice experience before, we are a stylish, fun and well established little restaurant and bar in "the ghetto" of Auckland's CBD. We are known for our diversity (smart business lunches, luxurious dinners, after - or during - work drinks, private functions), our retro-chic interior and our steady stream of excellent reviews. Rice Restaurant has been a favourite for years now. Love the interior, the menu is stunning. This is one of the few restaurants in Auckland that I can say has consistently provided 5-star service and dishes to match. Wait staff here know their stuff and will glady recommend food and wine matches -- they can even tell you the ingredients for some of those delicious, and often complicated, taste sensations on the menu. One of the best restaurants in Auckland.

my gorgeous partner took me on a great night , starting at Rice for dinner. we ordered shared food and fabulous wine. The food is simple and moreish, and the service and attention from the waiting staff was friendly and professional ...but they did not 'hang around' your table , which was great. would love to go back again soon and try something else on the menu. Tracy

Great decor, ok service (it was really busy) the food was a bit of a let down. The place was solidly booked and we were a table of 8 having the degustation menu, but really this is no excuse.
