Molten boasts innovative, yet eclectic and quietly sophisticated menu with intriguing taste combinations that stand out.

Molten's menu offering is best described as modern European cuisine with a distinctive kiwi twist. Head chef and owner Michael van den Elzen and his team use only finest quality locally produced ingredients. The wine list encompasses an extensive range of boutique wines from around New Zealand.

The restaurant also has a special function room, The Red Room, which seats up to 20 people. There is also a function menu available.

Matched with friendly, attentive service this has created a formula which has brought Molten considerable praise and numerous awards. Among the accolades it has garnered are: Winner Best Neighbourhood Restaurant 2009, Cuisine Awards Finalist 2009 and one of Metro magazine's Top 50 Restaurants in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009.

Located in the heart of Mt Eden village, Molten is a great escape from the hassles of the city, yet less than 10 minutes drive from downtown Auckland.

Open for Lunch Tuesday,Saturday from noon and for dinner from Monday to Saturday from 5.30 till late. Open Sunday for private parties only.

    I disagree with the review below. To me, Molten is a fantastic place for really special moments where you can pamper yourself with exquisite food and efficient service. Price range a bit high, yes, but you will have to agree when you taste their delicious food and the whole dining experience. Just amazing!!

    Sadly we were disappointed. We had tried to get a table a few times last minute but never avail. Assuming popular means good I guess out expectations were high. Inattentive service and the food lacking. We've been spoiled w the likes of Merediths.

    We had the 6course degustation meal at Molten last night. One of the best meals i have ever had. Would recomend to anyone, anyday. Great food, great wine, altogether a great experience!
