Chose here to have my first breakfast in NZ. The ambience was what I'd expected, very pleasant surroundings giving a good first impression. The staff were welcoming and gave good service. Coffee was going to be a big thing (I'm from Melbourne), I was pleasantly surprised, I wouldn't call the coffee great but it was as good as I would get generally in Melbourne so off to a good start. My wife chose the corn fritters with crispy bacon and I chose the Vicar' Grill. Both were presented well and we enjoyed them. My only disappointment was the bacon that was used in the Vicar's Grill it was tougher rather than crispy. Over all though we enjoyed the experience and would go there again

Always a fantastic meal. Good quality and fresh food, well presented and great service. This restaurant has a great feel about it and is a pleasure to dine at. Definitely 5 stars.

We went on a busy Friday night. The service was fantastic! The presentation was awesome. However the food was just not up to par. A very bland soup followed by tough overcooked pork did not entice us to stay for dessert. I may try again on a slower day just because the setting and staff were worth it.

I came here once with a group of friends. We just got a different dessert each and we were all quite impressed with what we received. It was a really lovely atmosphere, there was even a wee cat wandering around the place. Great for somebody like myself and my friends who love them but not really ideal for someone with allergies. Its cool to have somewhere to go that looks and tastes nice but that can also be so casual :)

Fantastic Venue and Great Service we have been there so many times and they always put on a good meal at a reasonable price! Unfortunately we had a group booking of 18 on the 4th september and the earthquake effected them so we didn't get to go back there but they have reopened now so looking forward to going back with all the friends and family

Great place to go for a meal, food is definitely above average and the atmosphere is great. Service was impeccable. Would recommend to anyone wanting something from a light snack and a coffee to a full meal. Will definitely be returning soon!

A great place to go for a meal, or just a quick coffee - always welcoming and friendly staff. The new bar is a great addition, and fun to watch the rugby with a few mates!

The food is back up to par from a rough patch a while back. Good menu selection with good prices. Nice friendly efficient staff in a relaxed atmosphere. Nice new bar at the rear of the restaurant good for Friday night drinks etc. Not sure what went on in the designers head though considering the decor. Light coloured striped wall paper and dark wood dont really fit together in my mind. Would return here nevertheless.
