Kai on Queens Wharf

There is a lot happening on the Auckland waterfront this summer – not least of all is Kai on Queens.

Featuring some of the best in Auckland street-food and some wicked-cool beats, Kai on Queens transforms the welcome space at the entrance to Queens Wharf into a lunchtime oasis of cool every Wednesday and Friday.

Here you’ll find Mexican street-food with a Pacific vibe courtesy of MexiKai, lovely wood-fire pizzas, fresh coffee and, perhaps best of all, gourmet soft-serve frozen yoghurt by the tub or cone, covered in sprinkles (pictured below).

It’s enough to make you look forward to going back to work. Well, maybe not.

Kai on Queens starts at 11am and is open until 2.30pm, Wednesdays and Fridays at Queens Wharf – the one next to the Auckland Ferry Building.

It’s one of a number of events happening along the Auckland waterfront, including Auckland Seafood Festival 2013, which will be taking place over Auckland Anniversary Weekend.

From Saturday 26 January until Monday 28 January, 11am to 6pm, Halsey Wharf in Wynard Quarter will boast live music, entertainment for the whole family and enough fresh seafood to turn even the most ardent heretic into a true believer.

Think mussel mania, salacious scallops, sensational salmon and, ah, super scampi. Read our guide to Auckland Seafood Festival 2013 for more details.
