Fish restaurant in Auckland

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; bring a man to Fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

That should be the motto of this Auckland restaurant. The passion-project of the very talented Shane Yardley, apprentice to celebrity chef Simon Gault, Fish is a celebration of the best fresh seafood in New Zealand.

Think pan-roasted hapuka with a crab and prawn crust, asparagus, and a white wine sauce; ballotine of Akaroa salmon with a corn and asparagus succotash; or seared Atlantic scallops with caramelised turnip puree, orange and parsley.

Fish also boasts mouth-watering smoky Pukekohe quail, barrel cut eye fillet of beef and black pepper tofu – not to mention a great range of delicious desserts. (You must try the nitro toffee and coffee mousse!)

And the restaurant itself is pretty special, too. Located at the foot of the Auckland Hilton, at the northern tip of Princes Wharf, Fish is perfectly placed to enjoy stunning views of the Hauraki Gulf – from the Harbour Bridge right through to Devonport and Rangitoto.

Fish’s popular out-door deck allows for up to 35 people to dine alfresco – but you’ll need to book ahead for that pleasure, especially if you want to enjoy the sunset. The restaurant also has a private room for up to 20 guests and an executive room for corporate gatherings.

Meanwhile, indoors, Fish is one of Auckland’s most romantic restaurants with cosy seating and warm timber tones – making it perfect for date night.

Best of all, you can dine at Fish knowing that you’re eating responsibly. The restaurant seeks out only the best sustainable seafood, which means you can have your fish and eat it too.

On Monday 18 March 2013 Fish will be presenting a special evening with Frederic Beerens from Gosset Champagne. For $120 per person you can dine on a four-course banquet designed by chef Shane Yardley, matched with wines from Gosset Champagne and Te Whare Ra Winery. Bookings are essential.
