After a long night out on the town, have you ever been stricken with an attack of the munchies? Do you often have the urge to just chill out over a good espresso and something to eat? Of course you have!
I feel I would be doing my readers a grave disservice if I didn’t address this problem and identify a few Auckland cafes open late.
They are fully licenced and offer snacks, full meals and desserts. Check this out: Tortilla Espanola (frittata of potato, onion and egg on bread with aioli), Roasted Chicken (on spinach and red pepper risotto with citrus dressing, topped with rocket and parmesan) and Chocolate buttermilk cake. Yay!
One 2 One Café, previously the Atomic Café, is located on Ponsonby Road. They are open ‘til 11.30pm Tuesday to Friday. They are known for their fine coffee, so if you’re partial to a shot of caffeine, you’ll welcome the aroma of roasted coffee beans as you enter.
They also have excellent live music: Tuesdays is an open mic night and jam sessions are on Thursday nights.
One 2 One is fully licenced and offers a range of meals, including Pancakes (with yoghurt, sugar and lemon mango), BLATs (on a bagel with cress and aioli) and Tofu Burgers (with salad greens, aioli and satay).
If you’re just down the road at Mea Culpa, One 2 One is an ideal place to round off your night.
Recently renovated, they have a great new look. Prior to the renovations they were known as Kuzhina Café.
Nuffield Street Café is fully licenced, with Peroni beer on tap and imported bottled beer, and they offer food, like Smoked Chicken and Forest Mushroom Lasagne, Meatball Pizza and Tiramisu Gateau (with Mocha sponge, mascarpone cream, coffee Panna Cotta and chocolate shavings).
