Christmas is just around the corner. Now, it’s definitely too early for singing carols and wrapping presents, but you may still want to think about where to eat your Christmas turkey or ham this year.
Here are a couple of options:
1. Have Christmas dinner at home (think about the work and cleaning up)
2. Go to a nice restaurant that will do all the work for you.
The plan was to profile several Christchurch restaurants that are open on Christmas day. However, to be honest, there aren’t a lot of places open, for obvious reasons. Anyway, I did find the Garden Court Brasserie.
The Garden Court Brasserie is a popular restaurant within the heart of the Chateau in the Park Hotel, next to Hagley Park on Deans Avenue, Riccarton. Overlooking award-winning gardens, Garden Court seems like a great place to relax with the family over an alfresco meal on Christmas day. This year Garden Court will be serving breakfast, lunch and dinner from a buffet menu.
For $64.50 per head, you can get a delicious continental breakfast that includes croissants, Danish pastries, pancakes and cold cuts of continental meats and salami; or a cooked breakfast, including crispy bacon, eggs benedict, hash browns and scrambled eggs.
Lunch or dinner is $110 per head with glazed ham on the bone, butter-roasted turkey and roasted spring lamb on the menu. I’m told that they are always fully booked at Christmas time, so it’s important to make reservations early. They also require payment in advance to confirm your booking.
