The trivia heads in our office are addicted to the daily Stuff quiz. If you have a mind for fun and interesting facts and a competitive streak, you might want to check out some of the many pub quizzes in Auckland.
The Drake has two great quiz nights on Tuesday and Thursday, with the latter a test of punters’ music trivia knowledge. Both quizzes are free to enter and offer fantastic prizes, including a $100 Drake voucher on the Tuesday night. The Tuesday quiz kicks off at 7pm, while the Thursday session starts at 5pm. Celcius Gastropub in Manukau City hosts a pub quiz every Tuesday night from 7pm, which just so happens to be the same night you can grab one of their gourmet pizzas for just a tenner. Everyone’s a winner at that price!
Likewise, The Dominion in Mount Eden has a Tuesday quiz night special that is too good to resist – $10 pizzas and quesadillas from 5pm. The quiz starts from 7pm.
Pubs and quizzes go together like salt and pepper. It should come as no surprise, then, that The Flying Moa has a quiz every Tuesday from 7pm, given that this is a classic Kiwi pub in Mount Wellington.
Those of you across the water in Devonport are probably familiar with the charms of the lovely old Masonic Tavern. Did you know they run a quiz on Wednesday nights? The quiz starts at 7:30pm, with registration at 7pm and there’s $150 worth of bar prizes up for grabs.
The ever popular Kingslander boasts Auckland’s biggest pub quiz, on Tuesday nights from 7:30pm. Competition is fierce, so you have to be smart and quick on the draw to nab that $200 bar tab! Call (09) 849 5777 to make a booking.
Heading out on a Monday night? Grab a jug of your favourite Mac’s beer and check out the Nuffield Street Trading Company’s quiz night. It kicks off at 7:30pm and there’s a $100 bar tab to play for.
The Cock n’ Bull pubs in Newmarket, Lynfield and Botany host what has to be one of Auckland’s most generous quiz nights. There are prizes galore at Tuesday Trivia! In addition to spot prizes and first, second and third place prizes, there are also loyalty prizes. Get your card stamped five times and you’ll go in the draw to win dinner vouchers and wine. Tuesday Trivia starts at 8pm and has an entry fee of $20 per team of six.
It’s no surprise that the quiz night at one of Auckland’s top rock n’ roll venues has a musical theme. So, if you know your Led Zeppelin from your Ladyhawke, get a team together and come on down to The Kings Arms on the last Monday of every month. Questions start at 7pm in the sports bar.
