$100 Restaurant Voucher Competition

In October 2010 we gave away 30 $100 Restaurant Association vouchers to lucky members. All they had to do was write a review about a place on menus.co.nz. Easy! 

Here is the full list of our winners and their reviews….

Day 1: Kermedec Review by knm123
came here because our usual haunt on the water couldn't accommodate us and was pleasantly surprised..from the rustic yet modern feeling architectural design to the perfectly formed wine list everything was top notch (and the prices reflected this). Definately recommend anything seafood from here – I was with a party of 4 and we all ordered different seafood dishes.

Best restaurant in Christchurch I took my partner there for a birthday dinner on booking they asked if it was a special occasion i said it was a birthday they then got his name and when we had our dessert it had a personalized message. Food was fantastic never had better.

Day 3: Hong Thai Restaurants Review by  pjbrock
My wife and I love Thai food, and Hong Thai is our favourite Thai restaurant by far. We've eaten at quite a few, but keep coming back. We can't understand why this place isn't better known. The staff are friendly and attentive The food is delcious and very well priced. We've never been disappointed.

Awesome luchbar. Mean as bacon & egg pies, and staff are helpful as. Stop there every morning on the way into work. Highly recommended.

great enviroment, fab food taste and pleantiful, love those potatoes! great buffet style take what you want, and great prices, depends on how hungry you are! one of my all time fav places to eat!

Absolutely amazing! Definitely a chocolate-lovers heaven, but even more than that, the quaint setting, and friendly staff make this little boutique-styled cafe a place you'll want to tell your friends about.

This is our favourite restaurant for a special treat. Everytime the service is impeccable, prompt and professional without being snobby.  The food is always great and good value.

One of my partners and I favorite restaurant to go to in Blenheim, a fantastic meal every time, my partner especially loves the meals the chef comes up with in the Fish Of The Day main!!

Found the staff and service to be fantastic nice to see a fast food resturant putting customers likes into consideration…..will happily wait a minute or so if it means my fries are hot and my burger is nicely assembled.

This is a great place to visit.  Very friendly staff and the food is always fantastic.  Ken also stays open late for us after speedway has finished on a Saturday night.

Day 11: Satay India Bistro & Tandoor Review by keryn77
My experience here was very enjoyable.The waiters were not constantly asking you questions but were there when needed, which made it less intrusive. The atmosphere was not thriving and the upstairs dining area has very limited head room for tall people.Overall it was yum especially the nan bread with fruit in it and reasonably priced.

Day 12: Crusoes Cafe At Robinsons Review by trudydaubney
Hidden gem! Service fantastic, very helpful and accommodating!! Great menu to choose from – something for everyone. Went for a 'late lunch' for a 40th birthday and was 20 or so of us – all meals came out within a very short time of each other which is great. They even decorated the table for us! My filo was lovely and the chowder is one of the best ever.

Day 13: Hell Pizza Belmont Review by ashlukris
My fav pizza joint! Delicious hot pizza every time. Sometimes they are a bit heavy on the pepper and pasta is just reheated but still tastes good. Expensive compared to Pizza Hut & Domino's, but I love it for its thin crusts and quality of toppings.

Great coffee and amazing food.. savory muffin, chicken salad and all the breakfast dishes are outstanding. Generous portions, great presentation and sensational flavours. Only place to get a good coffee in Milford!

Come here just for the mochas! They put tasty little flakes of chocolate in. Yum! Food looks amazing but haven't tried it yet. Cute little cafe with ethnic-looking seat cushions, quite colourful. people are friendly

Absolutley superb. Worth booking in advance for. Gorgeous ambience, superb service and food is beyond divine. This is one of our favourite places for a special occasion as it really seems all customers are treated like VIPs. Great range of alcohol, menu divine and really is something for everyone. Can't recommend highly enough!

Day 18: Chopsticks Restaurant Review by mljbarnett
What great food, they have the best prawns. Always friendly staff, quick service and lots and lots to eat. The $25 set menu is to die for.

Day 19: The Tea Room and Persian Kitchen Review by labelman
Appears to be early days for evening dining, but heaps of potential here. Food is excellent, service is attentive without being intrusive and prices are very reasonable. Diners appear to be older set, but if you're looking for somewhere to dine and enjoy quiet conversation without having to strain your ears or lungs I highly recommend it.

Day 20: Lone Star Cafe & Bar – Dunedin Review by yourmum
went here once again after a hard day at Uni. Had to wait almost an hour for service but staff were very friendly. Upon ordering a huge stack of pork ribs I was not disappointed by the famous lone star sauce they smear over them. Delicious

The goodness of this restaurant came as a surprise to us. Having thought that Monsoon Poon was just another over-priced restaurant with mediocre food, how absolutely happy we were not learn that it is the complete opposite. Such a gorgeous decor, very good food, very nice staff and a general happy ambience made it a fabulous dining experience. I was particularly happy about the selection of South East Asian dishes. Coming from Indonesia, I was most pleased to feel almost at home when I tasted the S.E.A. dishes.. This was a few months ago and we are now regular patrons there! I am a fan!!

Top notch Japanese Teppan Yaki bar. Come here every year for family birthdays, a favourite in our house! The pork wrapped prawns & chicken thighs are tender and delicious, highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to find a regular hangout or for a special occasion. You will not be disappointed in the food, that I promise!

Day 25: Adzuki Bean Cafe & Restaurant Review by billysmum
After reading several reviews on many restaurants we decided to book our party of 30 for dinner at Adzuki Bean Cafe and Restaurant. We were not disappointed by our decision. We could not fault the meals. Anyone who has worked in the food industry knows what a challenge it is to get hot meals served at the same time and the chefs at Adzuki pulled this off brilliantly. Being a group of 30 we probably ordered nearly every item off the menu (which catered to all tastes) and everyone I asked loved their meal. The staff were very attentive to our needs without being intrusive and went out of their way to make sure my birthday was special. I will definitely recommend Adzuki Bean Cafe to others and can't wait till we go back again.

Day 26: The Clubhouse Sports Bar Review by CindyC
The clubhouse is great for a drink weeknights, or me and mates come here weekends and make the most of the sunshine whilst sipping beers. The food is great but it is the venue and atmopshere that makes the place.

I made a booking last month for a 40th & 16th birthday dinner for 20 people. I enjoyed the seating area that was allocated to us, the food was great and I thought it was well worth the money for a Saturday night dinner. The place was clean and tidy, so I would definitely go back again. Being a pacific islander, we do eat a lot and it was good to keep going back for more. My downfall however, was the service. It took a while to have our tables cleared and we had dirty plates stacked on the tables using up a lot of needed space for eating. Regardless of the slight negative, I am looking at going back there some time soon and I have told a lot of people about the place.

This restaurant is amazing.it's such a nice place to go for the views and the staff are all really friendly and very professional.They had a musician playing the piano all night which added a nice feel.the salmon steak was one of the greatest iv had

The service here is fantastic. I worked in the mall at the beginning of the year and within the week a majority of the staff had made an effort to learn my name and what I ordered. They really went out of their way to make sure their regulars were looked after. Caramel latte, basil pesto bagel and banana bread would be my recommendation.

Day 30: Etrusco At The Savoy Review by emilysmith9
The pasta here is incredible, and really good value to. I would reccomend trying the spinach, parmesan pasta, or the vodka pasta – don't be fooled by the name, it doesn't taste anything like vodka – easily the best dish there. If you get a large size and can't manage it all the staff will happily put it into a takeaway container for you. They also have a set menu for groups of more than ten, haven't tried it yet but heard it is delicious! Can BYO aswell.
