If you’re a fan of top quality food, wine…and wind farms, then be sure to keep the weekend of the 9th and 10th June free for the fourth annual Manawatu Wine and Food Festival.
The event is being held at the Awapuni Racing and Function Centre, a venue with a picturesque outlook over the racecourse and the nearby wind farm.
The festival will be a showcase and celebration of the excellence and eclecticism of Lower North Island wineries and boutique food producers.
Exhibitors include:
• Maggie’s Vineyard & Bijou Estate
All visitors will get a complementary glass to use for the free tastings available at the various wine stalls.
As for food, you’ve got a few options, depending on your appetite.
If you’re simply peckish, or want to try a few different things, you could opt for some tasting portions from the food vendors.
However, if you’re after something more substantial they’ll sell you a lunch portion and if you like, a bottle of wine to go with it. The resident caterers will also be serving a range of café style food.
Well known Palmerston North chef and food industry identity Hester Guy will give cooking demonstrations throughout the weekend. If you’re after some inspiration in the kitchen, head along to one of these.
Musical entertainment will be provided through out the day by local bands and school groups.
The Manawatu Food and Wine Festival is organised by the Rotary Club of Terrace End as a fundraiser for community projects.
When: Saturday 9th June, 10 am to 6pm and Sunday 10th June, 10am to 4pm
Tickets: cost $20 per person, buy online, children under 14 get in free
