Best Wellington Cafes For a Hangover Brunch

After a great night on the town, a night of excess, you need a great big brunch to match.

Wellington, as a city, offers a complete party experience with fantastic  bars for night time and some excellent cafés with good substantial portions for the morning after.

If you’re doing the rounds of the capital’s bars and clubs, here are a few places in the central city to get your hangover fix.

Sweet Mother’s Kitchen

Sweet Mother’s Kitchen offers a huge range of post-party sustenance. The Breakfast Burrito is a highlight of their menu, you get the option of adding potato hash, cajun smoked sausage and bacon for an extra $2.50. The best thing is brunch is served all day at weekends!

Deluxe Espresso Bar

If you fancy a healthier hangover cure, try the vegetarian cabinet food at Deluxe. They also do a mean coffee, the elixir of life to a poor wilting reveller. Deluxe also has the advantage of being very close to Courtenay Place.

Fidel’s Café

Open from 9am at the weekend, Fidel’s in Cuba Street offers some tasty brunch options that will have you feeling full and well again. You could go Latin American with the Bean and Scrambled Egg Burrito, or you could opt for a hearty traditional item like Mushrooms on Toast, or Eggs Benedict.

Floridita’s

Eggs, being packed with protein, are a popular breakfast and brunch option and Floridita’s serves them a number of different ways. The Smoked Mackerel Potato Hash is also worth trying. If you’re a “hair of the dog” kind of person, they offer triple shot Bloody Marys as a morning pick me up!
