The food world is getting better at giving choices to those of us that don’t favour a carnivore’s diet. It used to be that a restaurant menu might have one veggie option if you’re lucky but now, well there are whole restaurants dedicated to the vegetarian! 

The aptly named ‘Vegetarian Café’ in Auckland’s CBD serves yummy Taiwanese vegetarian food and is great for a working lunch or to fill up during a Saturday afternoon shopping trip. It’s 100% healthy and 100% tasty!

Vegetarian, semi-organic, low-fat - Revive has it all! Located on Fort St in Central Auckland, this café is the place to be if you favour veggies. They even offer some discount vouchers on their website which is an added bonus to their delish menu! Plus, make sure you try a smoothie to go with your lunch – they’re great on a hot day or balmy evening. 

If you’ve got a thirst on you for something different then check out Raw Power Café on Vulcan Lane. They specialise in juices and salads with everything being 100% vegan! 

With tonnes of free parking and a Sunday dinner menu with live music to boot, The Library Café is great for vegetarians, vegans and anyone with food allergies. Their menu also includes non-vegetarian options so the meat-eaters in your life will be happy here too. 

It’s not just Auckland city that has great veggie restaurants, the suburbs can hold their own in this department too. The Blue Bird Café on Dominion Road is probably the most peaceful café in Auckland, even when it’s busy! The atmosphere, ambient music and superb vegetarian food all make for a great relaxing lunch or after-work treat. 

Staying on Dominion Road, walk a little further and you’ll find Ras Vatika Indian Restaurant. These guys specialise in vegetarian food that’s low on price but full on flavour. The dining room is small but cosy and they even do take-away so you can enjoy without moving off your sofa. 

If you want to keep it cheap and cheerful then Wagamama is the place for you. They’re not strictly a vegetarian restaurant but there are loads of meat-free treats on offer that will be sure to satisfy both you and your wallet!
