Would you prefer to relax and enjoy Christmas Day with the family this year and not worry about cooking? Here is a selection of restaurants open on the 25th of December where you can enjoy a sumptuous meal and you don’t have to do the dishes!
Barolo restaurant within the Langham Hotel will be offering a fabulous degustation menu this Christmas Day. There will be two sitting times: Lunch, 12.30pm to 4pm and dinner, 6pm to 10pm.
Hudson’s Restaurant & Bar in Hamilton is open every day of the year as well as on Christmas Day. It will not be charging a special holiday surcharge and it's open for breakfast and dinner, serving an a la carte menu. Best of all, if the weather is good you'll be able to enjoy its outdoor garden area.
Local favourite Logan Brown will be hosting an early lunch sitting from 11am to 2pm, with a late lunch at 2.30pm to 6pm.
At $150 per person (payment required up front to confirm booking) they will be serving dishes like Freshly baked sourdough, Crispy duck leg with caramelised apple pork sausage, maple pumpkin, asparagus and cranberry relish and Billy Scott’s Strawberry tart.
Chameleon Restaurant is within the 5-star InterContinental Hotel on Grey Street and though the menu is yet to be confirmed, they will be open for Christmas breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Sittings are planned for between 12 noon and 2pm and 6pm to 8pm. Prices will be around $135 per person for a three-course meal, including a glass of Brancott Estate Brut Curvée wine. They will also serve a buffet breakfast at $40 per person.
Artisan Restaurant and Bar is located in the 5-star Bolton Hotel on Bolton Avenue. They plan to be open for lunch on Christmas day and may have a later sitting if there is enough demand.
The three-course set menu will include dishes like Grilled haloumi, asparagus with salsa verde for an entrée, Roast turkey breast, chestnut and kumara puree, cranberry stuffing and juniper and port wine reduction for a main and Dark chocolate tart with mulled wine, ice cream and orange syrup for dessert.
Zibibbo Restaurant and Bar will also be open Christmas with three sittings available: 11 – 1:30pm, 2:30 – 5pm and 6 – 8:30pm.

The Garden Court Brasserie will be serving breakfast, lunch and dinner from a buffet menu for Christmas.
It's a popular restaurant within the heart of the Chateau in the Park Hotel, next to Hagley Park on Deans Avenue, Riccarton, and for $64.50 per head, you can get a delicious continental breakfast that includes croissants, Danish pastries, pancakes and cold cuts of continental meats and salami; or a cooked breakfast, including crispy bacon, eggs benedict, hash browns and scrambled eggs.
Lunch or dinner is $110 per head with glazed ham on the bone, butter-roasted turkey and roasted spring lamb on the menu.
Prime Waterfront Restaurant and Bar will be playing their part in order to ensure you have a spectacular Xmas day 2010, by serving the choice of a traditional Christmas dinner or a delicious seafood option from 5pm until late. They recommend you book ahead but a select number of tables will be set aside for walk-ins. 15% surcharge will apply.
Wai will be serving up an extravagant 5 course celebration dinner from 5.30pm onwards. This year’s main course will be made from New Zealand’s finest fresh produce and will be a choice between Rib eye steak and Snapper. At $133 per person this is sure to be delectable.
The historical Crown Mill will be open for an elegant 3 course buffet Xmas lunch. The Victorian building will have a 12noon sitting at a cost of $75 per person and will not fail to create a traditional Christmas event for you and your family.
