NZ Olive Festival 2011

Hastings residents, lovers of food and wine, and anyone who is after an excuse to head to the beautiful Hawke’s Bay region should check out the upcoming NZ Olive Festival 2011

A celebration of all things olive, the event held on Saturday 24 September 2011 is a fun-filled food, wine and entertainment-packed day out.

Running from 10am to 4pm, there will be plenty to see and do including olive oil tasting and appreciation workshops (get an insight into different blends, tastes and uses of oils); olive tasting and comparison workshops (find out how to spot a good and a bad olive); spit the pit competitions; music and entertainment; plus plenty of activities to keep the kids occupied.

Celebrity Chefs Dame Alison Holst and her son Simon Holst will be at the festival presenting lots of delicious cooking demonstrations with tips from some of their favourite dishes.

There will also be many food stalls on site to satisfy one’s hunger, as well as a grand selection of olive-grower stalls, olive oil merchandise, coffee stalls, inspiring olive gift ideas and a selection of premium wine stalls.

An annual event held in the grounds of the Hastings Racecourse, this year’s NZ Olive festival hopes to attract even more visitors who are in our country for the Rugby World Cup.

Tickets are priced at just $5 entry with children under 15 years free, and are available for purchase on the day of the event.

Head along to The Hastings Racecourse, 200 Prospect Rd, Hastings on Saturday 24 September 2011 and enjoy a unique day out.
