Let’s face it, being social can cost a bomb but with so many bars and restaurants around Auckland fighting for your business, budget menus, lunch specials and happy hours are springing up all over the place.
‘Budget’ doesn’t have to be a dirty word; in fact, it can be quite a tasty word! Or, if you fancy a bit of spice in the evening, then you can do that on a budget too. Get down to Jewel of India in Mission Bay and grab their Wine & Dine-In Deal. For $15 you get your choice of curry, plus rice and naan bread and a glass of house wine.
If it’s a cheap drink you’re after then there are tonnes of bars dotted around Auckland that have happy hours. Cowboys in the Viaduct is great for a pint after work on a Summer’s evening (they even come around with free sandwiches!) or head over to the Kingslander on New North Road, where they have $5 mojitos every Wednesday night!.
If you fancy going a little bit more posh on your budget then check out The Langham – yep, you can eat at The Langham without emptying your bank account! SPE Bar & Bistro offer an $8 deal on wood-fired pizzas on Tuesday nights from 5pm to 7pm. And, you can get a wine or tap beer for only $4.50. Sweet!
Staying away from a pub is usually the first port of call for anyone on a budget, so to save yourself from going stir crazy at home, check out the cinema on a Tuesday night where most places offer $10 tickets.
