Due to the law permitting business trading hours over Easter and ANZAC Day, many of your favourite restaurants and bars around New Zealand will be closing up shop on these public holidays.
But if you’re keen on dining out, we’ve found a number of restaurants who will be open for Easter weekend and on ANZAC Day in 2013. Please note opening hours may vary from their usual times and surcharge will most likely apply unless stated otherwise.
The nice people at SkyCity Auckland have ensured us that all of their restaurants will remain open at Easter and most of them will open on ANZAC Day, although some will have revised hours (see below). As always, there will be no holiday surcharges imposed on diners.
Depot will open at 11am and SkyCity Auckland's Deli & Noodle Bar will be open after 1pm on ANZAC Day, as will Sammy's Place. Rebo, Fortuna and Jade Dragon will be open as usual; The Grill by Sean Connolly will open for dinner and dine by Peter Gordon will be closed all day.
Bolliwood will remain open over Easter and on ANZAC Day – with no holiday surcharge to boot. Check out its tempting $10 lunch special, available every day of the week.
Visit Acacia restaurant in the Novotel hotel in Ellerslie, Auckland, for some Easter family fun. Enjoy a stunning seafood buffet on Good Friday from 6pm to 10pm for $55 per person with a complimentary glass of wine or beer.
On Easter Sunday, enjoy an Easter buffet brunch and an egg hunt around the Acacia garden bar from 9am to 1pm. It costs $35 per adult and up to three children aged 0-12 years dine free when accompanied by two adults. Bookings are essential.
And it's open on ANZAC Day, too.
Arizona will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday, but will open from 8am to late on Saturday and Sunday. It’s open on ANZAC Day from 12pm – with no surcharge.
Not only will Shed 5 be trading as usual over this year’s Easter period but it also won’t be imposing any surcharges on its customers for the privilege.
This funky restaurant in central Wellington will be trading as usual over Easter and on ANZAC Day.
The General Practitioner will be open throughout Easter – with the exception of Easter Monday, when it will be closed – without a surcharge. It'll also be open on ANZAC Day from 1pm.
The Old Vicarage will be open every day over Easter – from 11am to late on Good Friday, 9am until late on Saturday and Sunday, 11am to 4:30pm on Easter Monday. It will be open for lunch on ANZAC Day.
There is no public holiday surcharge at Cortado, ever! Which is good news for hungry diners looking to enjoy this restaurant and bar’s European continental cuisine and South American-inspired dishes.
The brand-new Jervois Steak House (JSH) in Queenstown will be open over Easter, with no public holiday surcharge to boot.
