One of the best things about dining out is the dessert menu. Treating yourself to a plate full of chocolate cake, lemon tart or even an indulgent ice cream sundae is the crème de la crème of eating out. So we’ve sourced some of New Zealand’s best spots for those sweet treats…
The Grove, Auckland
For fancy delights of the best kind, why not save for a few weeks and treat yourself to the dessert menu at Wyndham Street’s The Grove, delicacies include crème brulée and soufflé, as well as an utterly divine four course dessert degustation menu!
Café Cezanne, Auckland
If you’re looking for a no frills pudding that hits the spot, Café Cezanne is perfect. The cheery staff serve up affordable treats in a casual late night cafe on Ponsonby Road – perfect for those sugar fuelled heart to hearts.
Strawberry Fare, Wellington
Most people go to Strawberry Fare solely for their dessert menu. It’s exceptionally good food and with over 23 dishes to choose from it’s not hard to see why this restaurant is so popular! Personal recommendations would be the Chocolate Madness but if you’re not a fan of chocolate there are plenty of other scrumptiously sweet meals on the menu.
Scopa, Wellington
If you haven’t tried the hot chocolate here then where have you been?! It’s not just a hot drink it’s a dessert in its own right, thick, rich and perfectly chocolaty. An Italian dessert menu is also on offer, with traditional tiramisu, panna cotta and gelato.
Patagonia, Queenstown
One of the most popular cafes in Queenstown, Patagonia is definitely worth the trip. And if you’re not a fan of chocolate go for the view alone! Quality ice-cream, handmade chocolates, waffles and crepes are all on hand until 10pm at night. Mmmmmm it’s delish.
Salt, Dunedin
Dunedin’s Salt Restaurant and cafe has a great range of treats on the menu. The Salt Sundae is a classic, as is the all time childhood favourite the Banana Split and ice cream spiders.
Indulge yourself to the max with these wonderful sugar filled menus, and remember, there’s always room for dessert!
