Mount Eden and Kingsland have plenty more to offer than just a rugby stadium – there are tonnes of places dotted up their main roads where you can wine and dine the night away.
Fancy an award winning bag of fish and chips? Then that’s exactly what you’ll get at The Mount Eden Village Fish Shop! Winner of Metro Magazine’s ‘Best Fish & Chips’ award for the past three years running, it’s no wonder this makes our ‘must-eat’ list. Choose from fish burgers, smoked fish, raw fish salad and lots more – add chips to that, wrap it in some paper, add a dollop of ketchup and bob’s your uncle you’ve got the tastiest dinner going… and it won’t break the bank either!
Sunday brunch is one of our favourite meals here at Menus, so if you’re looking for some great eggs benny or French toast then look no further than Twenty Three Café. They only serve brunch at the weekends so it’s no wonder it’s good – with their hash cakes and poached eggs topped off with bacon already becoming famous in Auckland!
Mount Eden and Kingsland have no shortage of good bars where you can get some decent pub grub too. The Clare Inn is one of Auckland’s best Irish bars and always attracts a crowd. Pop in for a pint or two… or three or four… and sample some of the hearty comfort food they have on offer. The Eden Cloak Room is another great bar that this area has to offer. It’s the complete opposite to those large impersonal pubs that have popped up throughout our city making it a great place to have a natter with friends or enjoy an after dinner drink.
If you live in or near Mount Eden or Kingsland and fancy a lazy night on the couch with a good takeaway then give Canton Cafe a call. They do the best Chinese take out so make sure you try it!
